Original Chromolithograph from the folio "The Flowering Plants and Ferns of New South Wales" by J.H.Maiden. Maiden was appointed Government Botanist and Director of the Botanic Gardens of Sydney in 1896.Under his direction the Gardens become a centre of scentific research. His specialty was the Eucalyptus and Acacia genera.

Uncoloured Botanicals~Original copper engravings, Georg Donysius EHRET, 1745

It is rare for 18th century botanical engraving to reach the 21st century uncoloured. Generally Zoological and Botanical illustraions had to be scientifically correct in form and colour. For this reason it was important to "draw from nature" for freshness and then take pressed cuttings, or in the case of animals, skins and feathers, so engravers & colourists at the printing house could use them as a point of reference for accuracy. They generally offered in a hand coloured state.
Engraved landscapes could be coloured more generically so subscribers would often save money by not paying for colouring opting to do it themselves.
Condition = Excellent with plate marks and borders intact and both are on the same paper(as they look different in the digitals).

Nicholas Culpeper was a legendary figure in the field of herbal medicine. He was a man of intelligence, wit, ethic, and conviction but much maligned by his colleagues. He was, however much respected by his community. Culpeper worked to bring medicinal treatments from the mysterious to the comprehensible. His philosophy was to teach the common folk to minister to themselves by providing the tools and knowledge for self-health. His ambition was to reform the whole system of medicine by paving the way for new thoughts and principles contrary to the established traditions.

Condition = slight 'foxing' (brown spots) on extremities
