Description: Two annulated (striped,ringed) Butterflies collected by early naturalists in the Colony of Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia. for The Naturalist's Pocket Magazine; or, Compleat Cabinet of Curiosities and Beauties of Nature, containing elegant coloured prints of birds, fishes, flowers, insects, quadrupeds, shells, and other natural productions...'
Series published between 1798-1802 by Harrison, Cluse & Co, No 108, Newgate Street (London)'. This print published November 16th, 1800. Rare.
Size: 145mm by 85mm (size of print only)
Size of conservation presentation in antique frame = 230mm x 180mm
Condition = slight paper discolouration throughout, notable consequence of age.

An exquisite collection of original hand coloured lithographs by H.Noel Humphries (1810-1879), naturalist, entemologist, illustrator,numisimatist (study of currrency) published Edinburgh 1860.Humphries layout that comprehensively illustrates the life cycle of the various butterflies, so impressed the British Museum curators that they adopted his meticulous dislay concept.
